July 13, 2020 - July 17, 2020
12:00 AM - 12:00 AM
The impact of networks is becoming increasingly apparent in our everyday lives. Social networks like Facebook and Twitter inform our beliefs and opinions, while brain networks capture our thoughts and guide our decisions and actions. The Penn Network Visualization Program seeks to support the development of new network visualization techniques to enhance scientific research, to increase dialog between artistic and scientific communities, and to optimize educational efforts to teach students about our networked life.
The Penn Network Visualization 2020 program invites high school students for a 1-week internship offering hands-on experience merging the worlds of art and science. Interns will hear presentations from distinguished scholars, then work throughout the week to create their very own visual interpretation of a scientific concept to be displayed at an on-campus gallery. SEPTA passes will be provided to facilitate transportation to Penn. Lunches and snacks will be provided.
